This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents. Please refer to your Parent Handbook and follow school procedures.

When are breaks, holidays, parent-teacher conferences, and other events? To see a school calendar, please visit Ashe County Schools at their website, or refer to the Mountain View folder sent home at the beginning of the year. In addition, we will list upcoming events and announcements in our weekly Newsletter (which can be found on our class website).

What is the procedure for after school dismissal? If your child is "PICKED UP", please meet your child in the school cafeteria at 2:30.  Remember ...you must sign-in in the office. If your child is a "CAR RIDER", please post a paper with your child's name on your car's passenger window. Stay in the line of traffic and follow it to the school's main entrance. Your child will be escorted to your car. This group of students also dismisses at 2:30. If your child is a "BUS RIDER", he/she will be dismissed at 2:35. If your child goes to "AFTER SCHOOL", he/she will be dismissed from the classroom at 2:50. CHANGES IN AFTERNOON ROUTINE MUST BE COMMUNICATED TO THE HOMEROOM TEACHER (via a note or phone call) BEFORE 2:oo!!

What do I do if my child is going to be absent? Please call the school office at 982-4200. Send a written and/or Doctor's note with your child when he/she returns to school.

What can I do to help my child succeed in Kindergaren? You are your child's first teacher, and we will work together this year to help your child learn and grow. It truly is a partnership! The best thing you can do is READ with your child every evening. The more experience your child has with reading, letters, and numbers, the easier the transition to Kindergarten.
